Cornish Bellflower
New in 2025.
Short delay - awaiting stock

Cottage charmers with little white bell towers that ring through summer. This clump forming, herbaceous perennial has small, heart shaped leaves that grow low along the stems, allowing the flowers to shine. Quick to grow and establish with good vigour.
Campanula alliariifolia is endemic to the Balkans, Caucasus and Asia minor where it is dry tolerant and prospers even in poor soils. It flowers around December to March for us. The bells are well sized at around 5cm long.
Plant Campanula in moderately fertile to humus rich, moist, well drained soil. Water in to establish, this takes around 4-6 weeks of regular watering. Once established it is dry tolerant with a long taproot to seek the moisture in the soil. It is a good idea to protect young plants from slugs and snails who find them very tasty. Seed can be saved for sowing. Remove spent flowers to encourage more to open and extend your season.
Campanulas are commonly known as Bellflowers or Cornish Bellflower. Campanula is Latin for little bell. Syn. Campanula makaschvilii
