The spreading, rounded form of the Sycamore Maple makes for an impressive shade or feature tree.
In spring, flowers hang in panicles, growing up to 12cm, they are a lime green and are followed by winged samaras.
Sycamore Maples are top trees for exposed locations as they copes with strong winds, urban pollution and even coastal conditions. They are even dry tolerant once established. The smooth bark of Sycamore Maples becomes rough with age.
Acer pseudoplatanus is known as a Sycamore Maple because of its apparent similarities to the Sycamore or Plane Tree.
