An Eastern Redbud is a tree worth having. Fabulous, rose pink flowers cover the trunk and branches in spring, before the leaves creating an awesome display.
The spreading branches have heart shaped foliage (to 10cm). The leaves have a bronze tinge when young, age to mid green then yellow and bronze in autumn. The bark is smooth, and coloured grey to tan.
The leaves of Eastern Redbud are thinner than The Judas Tree and more bright green.
Plant in humus rich, moist, well drained soil. Plant in full sun to part shade. Plant in a protected areas out of harsh winds. A slow to moderate growth rate, reaching it's full height in around 15-20 years.
