The foliage of Bletilla is a lush, bright green. It has deep ridges. The foliage emerges early spring and usually lasts until frost. Flowers best after a cold winter.

The flowers of Bletilla are easy to pick, simply pluck the blooms from amongst the foliage. The flowers last well in a vase. The flower season lasts around a month.

Plant Bletilla or Chinese Ground Orchid at the front of beds or borders or in pots. They look best planted in clumps.
