(17C) Winter Rose 'Lady Series' White Lady

Bright white flowers shine over the deep green foliage. The blooms are almost pure white with a soft green blush in the centre.

The Lady Series of Hellebores are new to Australia and are sure to develop a following. Developed in Germany in 2001, their numbers have increased enough to be able to sell world wide. The flowers are more upright than most Hellebore varieties. They are popular in both Europe and North America. They are in the top four of the UK Hellebore list. The flowers have a vibrant colouring and the plants are compact and vigorous. The leathery leaves are thick and deep green.

Fill the shady spots in your garden with the hardy Winter Rose. With handsome, evergreen foliage and blooms from late autumn right into spring it is a winner.

Prune Winter Rose or Hellebore foliage back in autumn so the blooms show through better in winter. This also keeps the plant bushy and vigorous.

Winter Rose is durable and versatile in the garden. It grows best beneath deciduous trees. You can also plant Winter Roses in beds sheltered from hot afternoon sun, or in pots. The flowering is long lasting and blooms measure 5-8cm across.

Try picking and floating the blooms of Winter Rose in a shallow dish for a sophisticated centre piece that will bring colour inside during the winter months. You can also put them in vases up high, where the pendant blooms can be admired from below.
