Oxypetalum 'Southern Star' has an abundance of long lasting flowers. The mauve blue blooms open from pink buds and fade to mauve or lilac. Prune after the first flush of flowers, around mid summer for a second flush.

The mid green leaves of Oxypetalum 'Southern Star' are narrow and heart shaped. The trailing branches of Oxypetalum 'Southern Star' can be allowed to run along the ground or be trained up support.

Grow Oxypetalum 'Southern Star' in a sunny position in humus rich, moist, well drained soil. The most important element is good drainage, and plants should not be over watered. Tip prune while plants are young to encourage a bushy growth habit.
