Soft pink stars cluster en masse on 60cm stems amidst narrow foliage. The blooms make good cut flowers. The flowers open from early spring and bloom on into summer.
The leaves are narrow and rolled inward making them even thinner.
South African Water Phlox grows well in boggy soils and pond edges, even potted and submerged in pond during growth is suitable (allow to dry out in dormancy). It is quite adaptable and will also grow in normal garden soils, becoming dry tolerant as it establishes.
Plant in a permanent position, the longer they establish the more blooms you will have. They need at least six hours sun to flower at their best, so a full sun to lightly shaded position is best. Any soil will do.
South African Water Phlox goes dormant in summer, at this time they should not sit in water as they may rot.
Botanically variously known as Onixotis triquetra or Wurmbea stricta.
