Sweet Osmanthus
Strongly perfumed blooms.
This product is currently out of stock and unavailable.

A vigorous, evergreen shrub or small tree. Osmanthus flowers have a seductive fragrance. The flowers are a soft, creamy white and open freely on the ends of branches. The fragrance of the blooms is a strong, sweet mix of Apricot, Gardenia and Jasmine. They are also suitable for picking.
The leathery leaves are deep green, growing 10-12cm long. New leaves have a red flush.
Endemic to China and Japan, Osmanthus prefer the cool, moist parts of Australia, but will also grow in the subtropics of Perth and Brisbane when protected from hot afternoon sun.
Plant in humus rich, well drained soil. Ideally grow in a protected spot that is morning sun or part shade. Prune stems after flowering to promote a bushy specimen.
