The bright, primrose yellow flowers open on straight, narrow stems from mid spring. Each bloom is around 2cm across. A vigorous variety.
The new foliage is a showy, copper red, aging to glossy dark green.
Epimediums are clump forming rhizomatous perennials native to woodland areas. The grow best in moist, humus rich soils in a part shade to bright light position. They are good for planting beneath trees, in shaded borders, shady ground covers or in pots.
Their leaves will hold through winter, but should be cut back early spring to allow the emerging flowers to shine. This also allows the new foliage to create a bigger show.
Fertilise and mulch Epimediums in winter. Divide every 3-5 years. Protect new foliage from slugs and snails.
