Quick to establish and easy to grow.
This product is currently out of stock and unavailable.

A hardy and reliable plant with masses of flowers. The main flush of flowers is through summer, however they will spot flower for most of the year. It is vigorous and dry tolerant once established.
A scrambling shrub that can be trained up walls and trellises or draped down retaining walls. Yet another use is as informal hedging. The foliage is mid green and quite dense along the stems. The leaves turn a darker green as they age.
Plant Plumbago in a moderately fertile to humus rich, well drained soil. Water to establish then only if rainfall is low. Cut back after the first flush of flowers, fertilise and await a rebloom. The flowers open on new wood. Plumbago is half hardy but frost damage tends to regrow quickly.
Plumbago is also known as Cape Leadwort or Blousyelbos. Botanically, the name Plumbago comes from the Latin for lead; 'plumbum'. The flowers are a similar colour and it was believed to be a cure for lead poisoning. It has also been used as a cure for warts, wounds, headaches and even as a protection against lightning.
