Toad Lilies are strong growing plants with masses of orchid-like flowers. The blooms form at the tips of the stems. It has masses of flowers in late summer and autumn. Toad Lily 'Empress' has large, white flowers with a decorative speckling of deep purple spots.
The leaves spread up the stems in an attractive fashion.
Toad Lily 'Empress' is a woodland plant that requires a humus rich, moist but well drained soil in semi shade to filtered light. Water to establish and keep moist during active growth. Remove spent flowers to encourage more blooms.
'Empress' is a hybrid from Tricytis formosana and tricytis hirta. Whilst they look like Orchids, they are in the Lily family.
