Astilbe Purple Lance
Late season colour for shade.
This product is currently out of stock and unavailable.

The upright, feathery plumes of gorgeous, magenta purple flowers open late in the season and last for an age. Both the foliage and flowers are lovely and upright.
Astilbe will grow to form nice clumps of handsome, fern like, dark green foliage that turns a rich yellow in autumn. They look wonderful as part of a woodland garden or shady border.
The flowers of Astilbe can be picked for vases where they will last well.
Once the flowers have turned bronze, you can either remove them or leave them on as the seed heads have nice autumn/winter ornamental value.
Astilbe are herbaceous perennials that grow best in part shade to morning sun positions, or filtered light. Plant in to a humus rich, moist soil. They love friable soils and are happy in clay. Water to establish and keep moist in active growth. They are one of the most dry tolerant Astilbe but if you want them to thrive they are need moisture.
