An unusual perennial with a delicious combination of chocolate shaded foliage on purple stems. The white, fluffy flowers open from summer to autumn, clustered together in corymbs of around 15cm across. The flowers continue until frost.
The chocolate leaves age to green from around mid summer. Both the flowers and the foliage are good for cutting.
Weave this compact, neat variety into your garden plan to provide contrast and texture.
Ageratina ‘Chocolate’ is both tough and easy to grow. Plant into moderately fertile to humus rich, moist, well drained soil. Choose a part shade or morning sun position. Remove spent flowers to stop seed fall, seedlings will not be true to type. Water in well, dry tolerant once established. The foliage will grow to form a nice clump.
